Hybrid Car Servicing

Hybrids still need oil, filters and brakes, but they also have their own cooling circuit, battery health and software to look after. We check both sides.

Why book with us

Hybrid Car Servicing with clear advice.

Our technicians are trained on hybrid systems, so a hybrid is not a problem car in our workshop. We follow the manufacturer service schedule, which on most hybrids includes inverter coolant, the hybrid battery cooling fan filter and a health check of the high-voltage system using diagnostic equipment.

Hybrids use regenerative braking, so the brake pads often last a long time while the calipers and sliders can seize from lack of use. We clean and lubricate them at service time, which is one of the most common things a hybrid needs.

Trained on hybrid systems

Our team is trained to work safely around hybrid and high-voltage parts.

Hybrid-specific checks

Inverter coolant, battery cooling fan filter and hybrid system fault codes.

Brakes that get less use

Calipers and sliders cleaned and freed up, as hybrids often seize rather than wear.

What a hybrid service includes

Clear expectations, no surprises. If anything extra is needed, we explain it first.

  • Engine oil and filter change with the low-viscosity oil hybrids need.
  • Inverter and engine coolant checked, and changed when the schedule says so.
  • Hybrid battery cooling fan and filter inspected and cleaned.
  • Diagnostic scan of the hybrid system for stored or pending faults.
  • Brake calipers and sliders cleaned, lubricated and checked for seizing.
  • 12-volt auxiliary battery tested, as a weak one stops many hybrids starting.

Common questions

Can any garage service a hybrid car?
Routine items like oil and filters are similar to a normal car, but hybrids have high-voltage parts that need training to work around safely. Our team is trained on hybrid systems and we service models such as the Toyota Prius, Yaris, C-HR and Corolla, Kia Niro and Hyundai Ioniq.
Does servicing my hybrid with you affect the hybrid battery warranty?
Some makes, including Toyota, extend hybrid battery cover when the car has an annual hybrid health check. We follow the manufacturer schedule and record the work, and we will tell you if your maker needs a dealer-only check to keep an extended warranty running.
My hybrid says it is not ready to drive — what should I do?
The most common cause is a weak 12-volt battery rather than the hybrid battery. We can test both and read the fault codes. Call us on 01384 936310 and we will advise whether it is safe to bring in or needs collecting.
