Cooling System & Radiator Repair

An overheating engine can turn a cheap hose into a head gasket job within miles. We pressure test the system to find the leak or failed part quickly.

Why book with us

Cooling System & Radiator Repair with clear advice.

If your temperature gauge is climbing, the coolant light is on or you keep topping up, the cooling system needs looking at before it causes engine damage. We pressure test the system cold and hot, check the radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat and fans, and look for signs of coolant getting into the oil.

Using the right coolant matters. Mixing types can cause sludge and corrosion inside the engine, so we drain and refill with coolant that matches your manufacturer's specification whenever we replace a part.

Pressure tested

The system is pressurised to find leaks that only show when hot.

Cause, not symptom

Thermostat, fan, pump and radiator checked so the fix lasts.

Correct coolant

Drained and refilled with coolant to your manufacturer's specification.

Common questions

Is it safe to drive with my car overheating?
No. Pull over as soon as it is safe and switch off. Driving on with the gauge in the red can warp the cylinder head and blow the head gasket, which costs far more than the original fault. Call us on 01384 936310 and we will advise on getting it to us.
Why am I losing coolant but cannot see a leak?
Small leaks can evaporate off a hot engine before they drip, and some leak inside the heater matrix or into the engine itself. A pressure test shows external leaks, and a combustion gas test shows whether coolant is being lost through the head gasket.
How often should coolant be changed?
Many modern coolants last five years or more, but it varies by make. Volkswagen, Ford and Vauxhall all specify different types and intervals. We check the strength and condition at every service and change it when your schedule says so.
