- How often should wiper blades be changed?
- Roughly once a year, or as soon as they smear, streak or judder. Winter is hard on them, so autumn is a good time. We check the blades at every service and MOT.
- Can worn wipers fail the MOT?
- Yes. Wipers must clear the screen well enough for you to see the road, and the washers must work. Split or missing blades and empty or blocked washers are common, easily avoided failures.
- My wipers have stopped working — is it the motor?
- It could be the motor, but a blown fuse, a faulty relay or a seized linkage are also common. On cars like the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Fiesta the linkage can wear and stop the wipers moving. We test each part before replacing anything. Call 01384 936310.
