ADAS Calibration

Driver assistance cameras and sensors must be told where straight ahead is. After certain repairs they need calibrating so they react at the right time.

Why book with us

ADAS Calibration with clear advice.

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition. They rely on a camera behind the windscreen and, on many cars, radar in the front bumper. If either is even slightly out of line, the system can steer late, brake late or switch itself off.

We carry out dynamic calibration, where the car is driven on the road with our diagnostic equipment connected while the cameras learn their position. Some cars need a static calibration with targets in the workshop instead. We check which your car needs before you book and tell you straight.

Dynamic calibration

Road-driven calibration with diagnostic equipment connected throughout.

After the right jobs

Windscreens, wheel alignment, suspension and bumper repairs can all need it.

Checked, not assumed

We confirm the calibration completed and no ADAS faults remain before handover.

ADAS Calibration

ADAS calibration covers

Clear expectations, no surprises. If anything extra is needed, we explain it first.

  • Check of which calibration your make and model requires.
  • Wheel alignment checked first, as cameras calibrate to the car's thrust line.
  • Dynamic calibration drive with diagnostic equipment connected.
  • Fault code scan of ADAS modules before and after.
  • Confirmation that warning lights are clear and systems are active.

Common questions

When does my car need ADAS calibration?
Usually after a windscreen replacement on a car with a camera behind the glass, after wheel alignment or suspension changes that alter the ride height or thrust angle, and after front bumper or radar repairs. A lane assist or collision warning light on the dash can also point to a camera that needs recalibrating.
What is the difference between dynamic and static calibration?
Dynamic calibration is done by driving the car on suitable roads while the system relearns its aim. Static calibration uses printed targets set up at exact distances in a workshop. Each manufacturer specifies which method its cars need, and we will tell you which applies before booking.
Is it safe to drive before calibration?
The car will drive normally, but systems like lane keep assist and emergency braking may react late or not at all. Drive as if they are switched off until the calibration is done. Call 01384 936310 to book it in.
