Why Won't My Car Start? Diagnosis in Brierley Hill

Complete silence: battery or electrical fault
No clicking, no cranking, no lights — this usually means a flat or dead battery. Check: are your interior lights working? If not, it is the battery. If lights are on, you may have a loose connection or a fault in the starter motor circuit.
If the battery is flat, we can jump-start you and run diagnostics to find out why it drained. Old batteries fail quickly in cold weather; new ones typically last three to five years.
Clicking but no crank: weak battery or bad starter
A rapid clicking sound means the battery has some charge but not enough to turn the engine over fully. The starter motor is trying to crank but stalling out repeatedly.
This can be a weak battery (especially in winter), a faulty alternator not charging the battery, or a starter motor that is failing. We test battery voltage and charging to narrow it down.
Cranks but won't fire: fuel, ignition or spark
The engine is turning but not catching. This suggests a fuel pump fault, empty tank, bad fuel injectors, a faulty spark plug or ignition coil, or a timing belt issue.
A diagnostic scan will read fault codes and tell us which system to investigate. Fuel pump faults and ignition coil failures are common; fuel filter blockages are rarer but possible on very old cars.
